Exterior

The house sits on a narrow lot that opens only to the north. Everything about the plan answers that.

From the road it reads low and horizontal, three roof planes stepping back rather than one mass. The entry is marked by a post-and-beam frame and a lattice screen, which is the first appearance of a grid that returns at three scales through the house.

The references are Asian, but the house is not a reproduction of anything. It is a reinterpretation: an older tradition given a new feeling rather than copied.

Entry

A podium runs along the wall and does two jobs at once — a step and a bench. A cushion sits on it, so the move from outside to inside has somewhere to pause.

The entry is a simplified post-and-beam frame. Asian entry structures all begin with posts and beams and grow more elaborate as the culture around them develops. This one runs that history backward, to the plain version, and lets the structure carry the ornament.

Kitchen

The island pairs Taj Mahal quartzite with a wood surface where people actually sit. The stone takes the work, the wood takes the elbows.

A kitchen is a working room before it is anything else: a 48-inch dual fuel range, a 1,200 CFM hood, built-in refrigeration, and a pantry with its own door to the outside so deliveries never cross the room.

Primary Bedroom

The bed is not a stand-alone product. It is built into the room as a single composition, closer to cabinetry than to furniture.

The room faces its own planted courtyard, so the first thing you see in the morning is green, not glass.

Primary Walk-In Closet

The windows could not be removed, so the plan works with them. Open shoe shelving runs along the left wall where the light falls. The washer and dryer are built into the left cabinet. The right facade is decorative and does not open.

The peninsula island reclaims dead floor area as drawers.

Most closets are entered and immediately felt: dark, cabinets to the ceiling, everything tight. This one is entered and read as open.

Gym

The gym sits inside the wellness zone, beside the sauna and the inner garden. The adjacency gives a short transition between exercise, recovery, and the rest of the house.

Sodalis quartz on the surfaces, and a window into the green zone rather than a mirror wall.

Guest Suite

The guest bedroom and its bathroom sit on the main floor rather than upstairs, at the far end of the private band.

The position gives a guest the whole depth of the house between them and the primary suite, and its own access to the deck.
